Screenwriter
If Stuart Jacobson were a contestant on the hit television game show, “What’s My Line,” Arlene Francis would blush with embarrassment and Bennett Cerf would gush with a welcome awakening. The segment would go something like this:
John Charles Daly (charming host)
Panel, our guest contestant, Stuart Jacobson, has just completed
a screenplay based on his experiences the last five years -
Mr. Daly (CONT’D)
(Puffing a smile) Mr. Jacobson is an anecdotal songwriter,
an engaging raconteur, and an endearing emcee.
Panel
(Mumbling) So what?
Mr. Daly
Mr. Jacobson performs his brand of vernacular at conventions,
parties, and festivals.
Panel
(Sits silently, in suspense; clueless is written on their faces)
Mr. Daly
Mr. Jacobson’s audiences are swingers.
Panel
(Still clueless, yet attentive)
Mr. Daly
(More emphatically) Couples who swap partners with each other!
Panel
(Startled, except columnist Dorothy Kilgallen)
Stuart Jacobson
(Opining to himself) Perhaps Ms. Kilgallen is a swinger! Hmmm?
And that is the underlying storyline in Stuart Jacobson’s engaging screenplay, Lifestyle, about the secretive and sexually invigorating world of swingers. “Everybody thinks they know everything about their best friend, but not if they’re swingers - that secret will never be shared.
Swinging is an exclusive lifestyle that has become pleasurably popular in today’s humdrum culture and continues to be immensely private,” reports Jacobson. When Steve Zacharias, screenwriter, director, and best known for writing “Revenge of the Nerds”, heard Jacobson’s unique story describing his compelling experiences emceeing swinger’s events, he encouraged him to write a movie about it.
It’s a funny story about an aspiring entertainer who finds his niche and becomes a superstar in the swinger’s community. It revolves around the openness of those who participate in the shadows of a conservative society while keeping their activities secret from family and friends.
