And The Winner Is -
Monday, May 19th, 2008Iâm sitting on my couch watching the “Academy of Country Music Awards” and enjoying it for the first time in years.
No Faith Hill and Tim McGraw - Replaced with Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, who not only write great tunes but jam on guitar like Alvin Lee and John Fogerty. And the new breed of ’Country Crooning Babes’ is so much more fun to watch than the gloomy Trish Yearwood and Martina McBride.
But the best moment for me was when Jack Ingram won for best new vocalist â even though heâs been touring relentlessly for the past sixteen years. Ingram is a Texas born âHonky Tonkerâ who Iâve been following since he launched his career. Iâve seen him perform in small venues with no more than twenty-five people. I even answered an ad from his record label volunteering to help distribute a CD sampler to record stores - several weeks later I received a handwritten postcard from Jack thanking me for my time and help. But what I like most about Jack is that heâs a nice guy and more often than not, when you meet someone you admire, itâs usually a disappointment.
Like the time I met Jerry SeinfeldâŠâŠ

Monday, April 28th, 2008Here are some amazing facts I learned while chatting with a Japanese guy who was preparing my take-out sushi order last night.
Japan leads the world in condom use! He said they’re sold door to door, by women. He also told me that women with a Ph.D. are twice as likely to be interested in a one-night stand as those with only a Bachelor’s degree. He said that every day, 200 million couples around the world have sex, which is over 2,000 couples at any given moment. And last but not least, four percent of American women wear no undergarments. That’s one intelligent sushi maker.
My fascination for women with tattoos continues to intensify. I donât know what it is but these babes are sexy and liberating â add a beautiful smile and my head starts playing Beethoven.

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008Yesterday I received an email asking if I ever write serious songs.
I didnât always write songs about swingers and tittie bars. Back in the 1990âs I was writing and recording songs about unrequited love and devoted relationships, hoping George Strait would record one of my tunes. But that changed after I was invited to play at the Bluebird CafĂ© in Nashville, Tennessee. I had just finished writing âIf I Ruled the World,â (press link below) a quirky song about running against Bill Clinton in the election of 1996. It  has a lyric that I sang, âthe only people Iâd ever fuck,â that obviously offended the manager - he was so pissed that he told me I would never be invited back!
Good or bad - that night at the Bluebird was the first time someone was emotionally fired up by one of my compositions â And thatâs when I decided to write more songs exploiting the word ‘fuck.’ My days as a serious songwrter are over!
Here are a few tracks from my first CD, âRomance Theatre.â It will be available in the Tittle Bars & Beer Gift Shop soon. Reviews can be read in the comic songwriterâs page.
